During our Conflict topic, Years 5 and 6 examined different types of conflicts, ranging from war, arguments and inner conflicts. The children discussed the decisions that had to be made in our class book: ‘Friend or Foe’ by Michael Morpurgo. We worked on developing empathy towards evacuee children and the different decisions they had to make in the story. The children acted these decisions out, experimenting with film making techniques.

The children visited Batley Memorial Park to sketch the memorial statue, make it with plasticine and enjoy the tranquil surroundings

- they felt very inspired!
