Welcome Back

Home learning week beginning 1st June 2020

We hope you had a wonderful week with your family, celebrating Eid and enjoying the lovely summer sunshine.  We are all ready for more super learning with this week's theme 'safety.'  It is so important that we all know how to keep safe in our home, in our gardens and play spaces, on our bikes or scooters, in cars and when we are working or playchiling online.  Have fun learning about safety with this week's activities and remember to send photographs of your work to us.

We are so excited about class dojo and all the super learning we can share. Thank you to everyone who has joined us and sent in amazing work.  We would like all our children in Early Years to log on, see our virtual classroom and the work we are setting everyday.  We look forward to seeing you and your work on there.

Reception children remember to take part in your daily Letters and Sounds sessions and daily White Rose maths through story sessions, and of course NumBots.

Nursery and Reception children have fun on Purple Mash and Minimash with this week's 'to dos' and topics.

Stay safe, have fun and keep on being super home learners.

Early Essence - How to save your children's photographs and observations

As you are aware we have been using Early Essene to log your child's learning through Reception, unfortunately we do not use this system once they start Year 1. If you would like save your  children’s learning journey observations, please follow the instructions below:

You will see the downloadable link when you log onto the web page. You then need to download and save the Media File. Please note you will not have access to these files after September so it is important that you download the files before the new academic year

Home learning week beginning 18th May 2020

Once upon a time there were some super home learners and their teachers asked them to do lots of fantastic activities about stories.  You are the characters, your home is the setting and here are the activities.  Share a Story and have fun!

Enjoy maths challenges everyday through the story Superworm by following the link to White Rose Maths

Remember to take part in the daily Letters and Sounds lessons at home instead of at school to help build your super reading and writing skills.

Wow!  The photographs of all the things children in Early Years have been doing  at home are awesome.  Thank you so much for sharing them with us.  They are a real joy to see.

We want everyone to think of ways to keep well with this week's theme 'Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds.'   There are lots of fun activities and experiments for you to do with your families on our learning menu.  You need to follow the White Rose Maths link for daily videos and activites based on stories we all love.   You will really enjoy this week's story:  The Very Busy Spider

It's important that you keep using and developing your phonics skills with daily Letters and Sounds sessions at home, just like you have in school.

Finally look on Early Essence for teacher videos  and please, please, please keep sharing your work through Early Essence or via our email: earlyyears@fieldlaneschool.co.uk.

Kindness Tuesday

Wear your kindness hat today,

Be kind in all you do and say.

Your kindness will be like a ball,

That passes round to one and all.

Kindness Week

This week we are going to say thank you for all the wonderful things in our world and to the people who help others through their kindness. Try to find as many ways as you can to get caught being kind at home, just as you do at school.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the children and parents who have chatted to us this week.  If we have not managed to catch you we will keep trying.  Thank you for shariing with us some of the things you have been doing at home: stone painting, planting fruit and vegetables, learning to ride a 2 wheeeler bike and being really kind helping the community.  Enjoy doing the activities on this week's learning menu and please email photgraphs of the things you do.

As we start the beginning of the Summer term we would like to say very well done to all our 'Stay Home  Superheroes'.  You really are helping to save the world just like the children in the story.  We are missing being at school together so much, but seeing your 'Stay Home  Superhero work on Purple Mash and Early Essence really makes us feel proud.

This week's learning menu will help Nursery and Reception children develop their learning powers.  The whole school theme 'Our World' will help everyone to think carefully about our wonderful world and the wonderful people in it.

Keep listening, keep learning, keep reading, keep having fun and keep saving the world.

Week 2 Home Learning - My Family

As you are our Super Safe Stay at Home Heroes we thought you would love to have fun with your families. Here is your learning menu.

This week you can:

Week 1

Rhyme Time

Through the use of rhyme, rhythm and repetition of spoken words children have fun being with others  to develop their listening and attention and building on their communciation and language skills.   Through songs and nursery rhymes we help them to  learn and understand diffferent speech sounds.  In the Early Years Foundation Stage we not only love rhymes and songs, but we use them creatively to introduce and use rhyme and alliteration to support the develpment of early literacy.

Rhymes and Signs

Learn the Makaton signs and sign away to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star with Mrs. Faraz.  How amazing is she?

Learn the Makaton signs to another all time favourite nursery rhyme, Baa Baa Black Sheep.

Here's another all time favourite Old McDonald had a Farm

Using puppets props and characters captures children's interest and makes rhymes and songs much more fun.

Watch Miss Mc Gregor's clip to see how she has included her lovely pet dogs in with her rhyming song.

Hi everyone,

I thought you might like to meet Huggy, my special bear, and listen to his bedtime story with him.

Some days can be difficult when we can't go to school or do the things we usually do.  Stories can be such a good way to make us feel good.  Listen to this happy story and see what you think.
