The Learning Together Project was all about helping parents to help their child at home. Every week we explored new ideas to enable parents to play with their children in a fun, educational way.

This was be a collaborative project, we gave some tips, but we also learned lots from the parents too as they are the experts when it comes to their own children.  We have worked together to build up confidence and develop an understanding of how important parents are in their child’s education.

We asked parents  to follow their child’s lead and support them to play and learn. Most of the experiences could be repeated at home or out and about with children.

We focused on developing  a child’s characteristics of learning. These are:

Playing and exploring – engagement:

1) Finding out and exploring

2) Playing with what they know.

3) Being willing to ‘have a go’

Active learning – motivation:

 4) Being involved and concentrating.

5) Keeping trying.

6) Enjoying achieving what they set out to do.

Creating and thinking critically – thinking:

7) Having their own ideas.

8) Making links.

9) Choosing ways to do things
