Field Lane go to see HRH Prince William

DSCN0184

On Tuesday 18th September 2018, a group of Year 4 children went on a visit to the University of Birmingham. We were invited along to listen to a speech given by HRH Prince William.

We travelled down to the university by mini - bus. We had a very early start at school, where we met at 6.30am to set off. When we arrived at the university, David Walliams – a childrens author had given each school a signed set of all of his children books.

We waited patiently for the Prince to arrive, we all waited in the Great Hall of the university which was a really grand room with high ceilings. We even joined in a balance ball wake up shake up with the Princes own personal trainer. Finally, he arrived - we were all so excited. We listened to his speech about the success of the Prince William award and he also gave out some special awards. After the speech, Prince William and David Walliams walked around the tables where children were sitting around the hall.

After the speeches and Prince William had walked around the great hall, we enjoyed an amazing buffet picnic of sandwiches and savoury treats.
