Interfaith Visit 2017

On 24th May 2017, our Year 6 children joined with the Year 6 children from Orchard Primary Academy in Chickenley to take part in an Interfaith Visit. We spent the morning at Zakaria Mosque in Dewsbury where we were met by Farooq Yunus who gave us a tour of the mosque and talked to the children about Islam and their beliefs. At 12:00pm, we set off for Leeds Stone Circle where the Pagans conduct their ceremonies. During the afternoon, the children had the opportunity to learn about the Pagan beliefs and ask questions about this non- mainstream religion.

It was a fantastic day where children got the opportunity to engage and work alongside children from different backgrounds. It also allowed us to gain a 'mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith' (British Values).

Thank you to Rebecca Breen and Simon Cambell- Skelling from the Community Heritage Team for organising this brilliant visit.
