Year 5 and 6 have learnt all about the Ancient Greeks! Click on the picture on the right to have a detailed look at we learned in Autumn 1.

Holiday Homework Options were-

1) Create an ancient Greek costume for our dress up day.

2) Research and cook a traditional Greek recipe.

3) Research how Greek yogurt is made.

4) Research how the Olympics started.

5) Create a Greek temple structure.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHILDREN WHO BOUGHT IN THEIR HOLIDAY HOMEWORK!

Year 5 and 6 had an extremely successful Greek dress up day this half term! Thank you to all the parents for being so creative with the costumes.

On the dress up day, children were put into teams to design and make a temple for either God Zeus or Goddess Athena. They had to work as a team to put together a pitch, design a temple and make a scaled down model. Their final designs were put in our very own exhibition where the teams talked about their designs and anwsered questions. They worked extremely well together and soon realised it was more of a problem solving task than a creative one! Have a look below to see some of the comments that the children made during the day-

'It was much harder than I thought it was going to be. My pyramid shape for my temple didn't fit together. I realised I needed to measure the sides properly.'

'It was hard turning my 2D design into a 3D model.'

'It was hard thinking about which resources we needed to make our model.'

'I enjoyed working with the year 5's as a team.'

'Our team worked like they do in The Apprentice. We had project managers and subteams.'
